In an original itinerary, you will learn about the contrasts that characterise the city: fine arts and folklore, ancient and modern, aristocracy and poverty. We will start by passing through the old city gate Porta San Gennaro (meeting point) and reach the contemporary arts museum “MADRE” in via Settembrini. We will switch from contemporary to medieval arts by visiting the church of San Giovanni a Carbonara and the nearby Ladislao gardens. We will reach the area surrounding Porta Capuana where traditional Naples meshes into avant-garde arts in the Lanificio and “Made in Cloister”. We will then reach Castel Capuano and via Tribunali where we will visit the History Archives of the Bank of Naples and the mount of piety “Pio Monte della Misericordia”. We will then admire street art graffiti dedicated to San Gennaro and Caravaggio. For those who wish, the day will end with lunch or dinner in a traditional pizzeria (prices will be pre-arranged).
